Fact or myth: leather is expensive

Leather is in fact more expensive than fabric, but you also need to consider the durability and the practicality of leather. So, if you choose a quality material, which has a good durability, the price difference is close to nothing.

Leather has a luxurious look, is soft and flexible. Leather is very comfortable, does not need much maintenance and is easy to clean. Leather also does not absorb many/ any smells.

All leather qualities can be split into groups. The cheapest leather is usually the most practical. This leather is made even and smooth, is painted and given a protective coat. Those are a few of the reasons this kind of leather is the best choice if you want a light color.

When you choose aniline leather, you will get the most natural leather. There is no print on this leather. Only 15-20% of all leather is suitable for this leather quality. This is the leather that breathes best. Every piece of leather tells its own story. To a certain extent, neck folds, insect bites and vital signs may be visible on the leather. Because this is so exclusive and natural, it does indeed cost more.

But if you compare that to the luxurious appearance and the durability of the leather, fabric cannot compete. Aniline leather can be treated with oil or a wax. This happens during the tanning process. This is also the reason why some leather is matte (oil) and other leather is shiny (wax).

Another kind of leather is nubuck leather. This is upper skin leather which has been sanded. This makes it soft like fabric, but still has the characteristics and durability of leather. Since the leather has been sanded, it also creates color nuances. This hides your pets scratch and bite marks. Lederland has only the best and natural leather. Let us take a look together which leather suits you and your wishes best.
