Real Nature

Each piece of leather is a natural product with its own unique nuances and characteristics. Lederland only uses durable leather. In our studio’s this leather is crafted into many types of leather. Keeping the natural characteristics is most important to us. And remember, Leather only gets more beautiful after use.

Well-painted

The coloring of the upper skin leather takes a lot of craftsmanship. The color seeps deep into the leather. Well painted leather is what we call that. This leather also stays beautiful for years to come. Mother nature plays a big role: because not every part of the skin takes up as much color, it creates amazing nuances in the leather, which makes every piece of leather unique.

A lesson in leather

To help you choose between more than 50 types of leather we have at Lederland, we have divided these into four categories with its own character.

Aniline leather

Aniline leather is the most beautiful and most natural types of leather. This leather has not had any corrections or changes, so you feel and see the true nature: including the structure of the skin, the open pores and also all marks nature has left behind, for example scars. Only 2% of all leather is suitable. That is why this type of leather is usually the most expensive. Take into account that this type of leather is very delicate because it does not have a protective layer, only a coloring. Remember: Exclusive, Beautiful, and natural.

Semi aniline leather

This is a beautiful flexible type of leather with a clear combination of the positive characteristics of pigmented leather and the natural look of true aniline leather. In other words: this leather has a colored protective layer. This protective layer will keep the leather clean, which makes it more practical, but still has a natural look with all-natural characteristics.

Nubuck

The top layer of this type of leather has been sanded. As a result, this leather has a very comfortable feel and a velvety look. This leather does not have a protective layer which makes it sensitive to external influences. In this type of leather, small color nuances are visible or will appear in time. This is part of the natural character of this leather.

Pigmented

This leather has a thick, protective layer so the unevenness’s are not or barely visible. This leather is used most often due to its user-friendly qualities. The finishing layer gives extra protection for external influences, for example sunlight or stains.
